I specialize in memoir, literary fiction, erotica and sex writing but have experience with nonfiction and genre fiction as well. I am a member of the Northwest Independent Editors Guild and have presented at Taos Writers Conference, Write on the Sound, PNWA Writer’s Cottage and Ballard Writers. In October 2014 I will be presenting a class on revision at the Whidbey Island Writer’s Conference.
Before I do anything else, I tell everyone I work with to read and study The Writer’s Portable Mentor by Priscilla Long, so let’s just get that out of the way right here.
If this is your first time working with a freelance editor, welcome! Depending on where you are in your process, I may suggest that you first take up revision and can also offer limited coaching along that line. If I am not the right person for you, I may also refer you to several other fine editors I know or have worked with myself.
My personal philosophy is that until a draft has been worked through several times, it is often detrimental to have any outside input, but I can make general suggestions to guide you toward completing the project if you are having trouble finishing.
Contact me at sarah at mywildskies dot com to discuss your project further.
FYI: I will be traveling from October 22 through November 5 so will have limited access to email. Please be patient during this time.
